Connecticut state law/regulations validate a locate request for 30 days from the day it is submitted. You will need to renew your ticket if the excavation job is going to extend beyond the 30-day mark. This can be done by going to your CBYD Ticket History and locating the old inquiry.
The Renew Ticket button appears on the Summary screen under Actions:
Note: If you cannot locate the Renew button, this may be because:
- The job was lodged over 30 days ago and has now been archived. You will need to lodge a new inquiry instead.
- Your account may not have been validated yet, preventing you from renewing the ticket.
The resubmitted job's Ticket Details screen will automatically populate to be the same as the previous inquiry, except the dates, which will need to be entered again:
The other fields on this screen cannot be altered. If anything about the job has changed since your last request, you will need to lodge a new ticket instead.
After clicking Next, you will not be able to edit the map area, site address, or Notes. If you need to change the map or the address, you will need to lodge a new ticket instead. If any new remarks need to be made, please contact our call center on 811 or 1-800-922-4455 for advice.
After submitting the ticket, the confirmation sheet will be sent to whichever email you currently have on your account (regardless of where the original job was sent, if your contact details have changed). New locate requests will be generated for the relevant authorities, and your new ticket will be valid for another thirty (30) days.
Tips:
- Only tickets originally lodged as "Routine" can be renewed. Emergency tickets cannot be renewed.
- Only valid tickets can be renewed. Expired tickets (over 30 days old) are not considered valid.
- If your excavation is expected to last longer than 30 days, please renew your ticket several days before the original ticket expiration date. This can be found on your confirmation sheet. This is to ensure that there is no gap between the original ticket dates and the new ticket, or else you will not have a valid ticket during the interim.
